15 Jahre Gangway in Berlin

Am 15. Oktober 1990 begann der erste Streetworker von Gangway seine Arbeit auf den Straßen Berlins. 15 Jahre und einen Tag später haben wir unser Jubiläum gebührend gefeiert. Ca. 1.000 Gäste aus allen Ecken der Stadt verbrachten mit uns einen bunten und ereignisreichen Nachmittag und Abend.

Begonnen hat alles mit den verschiedenen Aktionen in den Workshops, an der Halfpipe, auf dem Basketball-Feld, im Soccer-Käfig, im Kinderbereich und nicht zu vergessen im Karaoke-Zelt. Ab 16.30 Uhr ging es auf der Bühne spannend zu bei der Podiumsdiskussion „Irrwege“. Tanja Ries befragte vier erwachsene Menschen nach ihren z.T. doch recht krummen Lebenswegen. Rede und Antwort gaben Ziska Riemann (Künstlerin), Bela B. Felsenheimer (Drummer der „Ärzte“), Elmar Kirsch (Niketown) und Axel Altenburg (Autor von „Stinkehose“).

Im Anschluss an die Talkrunde konnten die jungen Menschen zeigen, was sie können – präsentiert wurden Ergebnisse der Workshops, das Finalspiel der Fußballer, die Show der BMXer und natürlich die vielen Bands und Tanzgruppen, die ihr Können auf der Bühne zeigten.

Bedanken wollen wir uns an dieser Stelle bei all den jungen Menschen, deren Engagement und Zutun der reibungslose Ablauf der Veranstaltung geschuldet ist. Zu nennen sind die Jungs und Mädels von der Juniorfirma G.I.G.A.-Events sowie die Techniker von The Faces of Theatre und For You Events, die nicht nur am Veranstaltungstag von früh bis spät dabei waren, sondern schon im Vorfeld mitgeplant und organisiert haben. Danken möchten wir weiterhin all den jungen und auch älteren Menschen, die durch ihre Anwesenheit zum Erfolg der Party beigetragen haben; Niketown Berlin, die sämtliche Preise, die im Laufe des Abends verliehen wurden, gesponsert haben; den Streetworkern und den Mitarbeitern der arena Berlin, die diese ganze Veranstaltung überhaupt erst ermöglicht haben.

On Oct.15.1990, Gangway’s first street worker began working on the streets of Berlin. 15 years and one day later we celebrated our anniversary accordingly. Approx. 1000 guests from all corners of the city spend a colorful and eventful evening with us.

It all began with a variety of events in the workshops, the half pipe, the basketball court, the soccer cage, the children’s area and last but not least the karaoke tent. Starting at 4:30 pm the show continued on stage with the panel discussion “erring ways” .The host Tanja Riest interviewed four adult individuals about their (at times) “crooked” past. Ziska Riemann (artist), Bela B. Felsenheimer (drummer of the band “Ärtzte”), Elmer Kirsch (Niketown), Axel Altenburg (author of „Stinkehose“) had the pleasure of answering these questions.

After the conclusion of the roundtable, it was time for the youngsters in attendance to show what they’re capable of – results of the workshops were presented, the finale of the soccer tournament was played, a BMX show and the many bands and dance groups were able to showcase their talent on stage.

We’d like to say thanks to all those young people whose commitment and hard work was the reason this event went smoothly and ultimately successfully. A special thanks goes to the boys and girls from the junior-firm G.I.G.A-Events as well as the technicians from the Faces of Theater and For You Events who spend their entire days (early in the morning until late at night) at the venue and who were very much involved in the planning and organization of the event in the days and weeks leading up to the event. We’d also like to thanks all those, young and old, who came to celebrate and who, because of their presents, helped make this party a success, Niketown Berlin who sponsored every price given out throughout the evening, all the street worker and all the employees of the Arena who made this event possible in the first place.
